Custom web design
in Edinburgh
Built around your business. Never a template.
I build custom websites for businesses here in the city, across Scotland, and UK-wide. Most sites are a theme with a logo dropped in. Mine are not. I design and build every page from scratch, around your customers, your services, and the exact searches people are making in Edinburgh. Strategy first, then the design, then a site that earns its place.
You own everything from day one

The Honest Part
Most websites just sit there
You have probably had one built already. It looks fine on a laptop, breaks on a phone, and nothing comes through it. Or you are starting from scratch, and every quote so far has been a big number with no clear idea of what you get.
Here is what usually goes wrong.
It does not get found. Built with no thought for what people type into Google. So when a customer in Leith or Morningside searches for what you do, your competitor shows up and you do not.
It does not convert. People land, get confused, and leave. No clear next step. No reason to trust you.
It gets forgotten. Built once, handed over, never touched again. Then slowly beaten by businesses that keep improving theirs.
None of these are design problems. They are strategy problems. That is why a nicer redesign on its own rarely fixes anything.
What Custom Means
Built for your audience. Owned by you.
Custom does not mean expensive for no reason. It means the site is built around your business, not squeezed into a layout that a thousand other companies also use.
I start with research. Your customers, your competitors in Edinburgh, and the exact words people search when they need what you offer in Stockbridge, the New Town, or wherever your clients come from. Then I design and build every page around that.
And it is yours. You own the domain, the hosting, every file, and the site itself, from the first day it goes live. I set it all up in your name and give you full access. If you ever stop working with me, nothing stays locked on my side.
| Template site | Custom build with me |
| Same layout, used by hundreds of other businesses | ✦ Built only for your customers |
| The platform owns your files and hosting | ✦ You own everything from day one |
| Heavy code, slow on a phone | ✦ Clean code, fast load, built to be found |
| Generic structure, no local focus | ✦ Pages matched to real Edinburgh searches |
| Locked to the platform’s rules | ✦ Yours to keep, no lock-in |
How It Works
Two ways to pay for a custom site
Both start the same way: a free roadmap, before any money changes hands. Where it goes next depends on what your site needs to do.
Pay once, own it.
One custom build at a fixed price, paid in three steps. Best when your customers already come from referrals, social, or word of mouth, and you just need a site that looks the part and does its job. Once it launches, the work is done. No monthly fees.
Partner monthly, design and SEO together.
For businesses that need Google to bring in new customers every month. The site and the SEO are planned as one job from day one. On the 12-month plan, the build is included.
Not sure which one is you? The free roadmap ends with a clear recommendation. No pressure either way.
Pay Once
A fully bespoke website, Pay once
A custom site, built to turn visitors into enquiries, at the scope you need. Fixed price, fixed scope, clear list of what you get. The SEO foundation is included, so the site is ready to grow later. Monthly SEO is separate, and you can add it any time.
Pick by what your site needs to do.

every build
Whichever scope you pick, all of this is in the price.
●
A free roadmap and a first design idea before you pay anything. Yours to keep, even if you walk away.
●
Research into your customers and your competitors, with the build based on it.
●
Simple brief templates, so nothing about your business is guessed.
●
Finished copy. I write the words for every page. You review and approve before launch.
●
Built on WordPress with the Gutenberg editor. Clean, fast, light code. No heavy page builders.
●
A site that works properly on a phone, not just shrunk to fit.
●
The SEO foundation: clean structure, correct headings, titles, and full SEO plugin setup.
●
Live in 10 to 14 working days, from the day your full content brief reaches me.
●
Two major revision rounds. A round is one set of change requests, done together. More rounds are £45 an hour, agreed first.
●
You own the domain, hosting, files, and the WordPress install. From day one, in your name.
●
Handover on your own hosting. Training and guidance are built into the site, and I give you email support for the different parts of it. If something is missing, I add it to the site quickly or explain it by email.
●
A 90-day support window, counted from your contract start date, not from launch. Time to refine inner-page copy and detail, plus monitoring, security, and small fixes.
add-ons
Two clear extras. Nothing hidden.
- Extra service page. £145 each.
- Bulk product import, beyond the 12 included. £40.
partner monthly
The proper build: planned to grow from day one
Here is the usual story. An agency hands you a finished website, then leaves you to deal with Google. Six months later you are paying someone else to fix a structure that was never built for search. Rewriting pages, changing links, adding the parts that should have been there from the start. You pay twice for work that should have been done once.
This is the other way to do it. Because I build the site and run its growth for the next year, getting the plan right at the start matters to me as much as to you. I research the keywords, plan the structure, and build every page around a real search, before anything is designed.
How the monthly partnership works:
● One monthly price, set by your SEO level. Core £500, Growth £900, Performance £1,600 a month.
● On the 12-month plan, your website build is included. That is £900 to £2,500 of design built into the plan, not charged on top.
● Already have a site? You get the same value back: one month of the fee credited, spread across the year.
● A 6-month plan is there for businesses that already have a working site. It does not include a build.
● Monthly reports and direct access to me throughout.
Owning versus committing.
Your site, domain, hosting, and files are yours from day one. That never changes.
The 12-month term is a commitment to the work, not a hold on your site. It is what lets the build be included.
After the first six months you can cancel any time with 30 days notice. No contract that rolls on by itself, no exit fees.
Growth takes time 5–10 months in low‑competition niches and 8–18 months in competitive ones. You’ll always know what to expect before signing.
Full SEO deliverables are on the SEO Service page. This page is about the build.
strategy first
Strategy first. Design second. Growth from launch.
01
Keyword research
I find every service, location, and topic worth ranking for, before anything is designed.
02
Site structure and page planning
Every page gets one clear search to aim at. The structure follows how people search, not what looks tidy.
03
Content briefs before a word is written
Each page gets a brief, so it is right from the first publish, not patched later.
04
The build, around the plan
Design and development come last. The structure and on-page signals are in place from day one, not added later.
05
Launch and grow together
Your SEO starts at launch. Because I built the site, I know where the quick wins are. No slow start.

why me

One person, from start to finish
I’m Moji. I design, build and grow custom WordPress websites, fix and look after existing ones, and do the SEO that gets them found. You deal with the person doing the work, from the first chat to the last update.
// No passing you around
An agency moves your project between a designer, a developer, an account manager, and a copywriter. Every handover loses a bit of the plan, and by launch the brief has been read four different ways. I do the strategy, the design, the build, and the copy. The brief never changes hands.
// Customers first, not colours first
Most designers ask about your logo and colours first. I start with your customers. Who they are, what they search for, and what makes them choose one Edinburgh business over another. The design follows from that.
// A few clients at a time
I keep a small number of projects running at once, so the ones I take on get the time they pay for.
who it’s for
Any Edinburgh business that needs to be found and trusted online
The scope depends on what your site needs to do, not what sector you are in. A yoga teacher selling courses, running classes, and taking bookings does not fit one neat box. The build fits around the business.
Trades and home services
Plumbers, electricians, joiners, roofers, builders, decorators, gardeners.
Health and wellbeing
Physios, dentists, skin clinics, studios, trainers, nutritionists.
Professional services
Solicitors, accountants, brokers, financial planners, architects, coaches.
Creative and lifestyle
Photographers, designers, copywriters, artists, beauty therapists.
Retail and shops
Boutiques, makers, jewellers, gift shops, course creators, galleries.
Hospitality and food
Restaurants, cafés, B&Bs, wedding venues, caterers, drinks brands.
the tech
Built on WordPress. Clean, fast, and yours.
Every site is built on WordPress with the Gutenberg editor and a light theme. No Elementor, no Divi, no heavy page builders. That means cleaner code, faster pages, and full control over the technical SEO that helps you rank.
Wix and Squarespace are fine for a simple five-page site. The trouble shows up two or three years in, when you want to grow and the platform limits start to cost you. Moving later costs more than starting right. With WordPress you own the code, the structure, and the speed, on hosting in your own name.
Hosting and your domain are paid straight to the providers, about £60 to £120 a year in total. Never marked up, never billed through me. I set both up with you in your first week.
already have a site
Already have a WordPress site?
This page is about new builds. If your current WordPress site needs fixing, speeding up, securing, or taking over from someone who disappeared, that is development work, not a new build.
I handle that too, billed by time: £45 an hour, or a 3-hour block for £120. Site down or hacked? Message me on WhatsApp and I will come back the same day.

Get-Found is £900, Get-Leads is £1,700, and Sell-Online is £2,500, paid in three steps. The price is on the page, because hiding it helps nobody.
Your site goes live within 10 to 14 working days of your full content brief reaching me. The start point is the brief, not the day you sign. Refining the inner pages and detail carries on for up to three months after that.
Yes, fully, from day one. The domain, the hosting, the files, the WordPress install. If you ever stop working with me, your site stays yours. No lock-in.
No. Every build is WordPress on Gutenberg, for the control over speed, structure, and SEO, and so you own everything.
Yes. Training and guidance are built into the site, and I give you email support for the different parts of it. For bigger changes there is a care plan or hourly support.
Yes. I can launch with a clean text logo made from your business name, and swap in a full logo later when you are ready.
A template site is a pre-built layout that hundreds or thousands of other businesses use. A custom site is designed and built specifically for your audience, your services, and your local search opportunity in Edinburgh. The structure, the content flow, and the technical setup all reflect how your customers actually behave when they search for what you offer. Two businesses in the same trade can need entirely different layouts because their customers arrive with different questions.
You do, paid directly to WordPress.com and your domain provider, a domain runs about £10-£20 a year, hosting £50-£100. Roughly £60-£120 a year total, and it’s never billed through me. I set both up with you in your first week, so you hold the login and the ownership from day one. If we ever stop working together, nothing is locked on my end.
your move
See your custom site before you commit to it, before you spend anything.
Send me a short, 2,3-minute overview, and I will send back a custom roadmap and a first design idea, built around your business. Free, before you decide to hire me. If it is not a fit, the roadmap is yours to keep.
That is what the free roadmap works out. You can also message me directly on WhatsApp or through the contact page if you have a specific question before committing to anything.
